EmmaWell was created by a unique group of individuals with a shared vision: to improve the maternal mental health and well-being of expecting and new parents. Our team combines start-up energy, corporate discipline, and medical expertise with a passion for maternal health.
David is responsible for driving EmmaWell’s strategy, commercial activities, operations, and product development.
Previously, David was Chief Revenue Officer at HeavyWater, an Artificial Intelligence Financial Technology startup, a VC focused on Series Seed and A financings at Safeguard, and a
strategy consultant at McKinsey.
David received his BA from Yale and MBA from Wharton.
Dad of 2 daughters, who provided the inspiration for EmmaWell's name, and a Bichon mix. Practically all of the adult females in
David's life are OB-GYNs, which piqued his interest in maternal health!
Chief Experience Officer
Viraj oversees patient care and experience across the EmmaWell platform. As a women's health professional, Viraj can answer practically any question about pregnancy, childbirth, and motherhood.
Viraj is a board-certified PA with 15 years of clinical experience in OB-GYN and has a certification in Maternal Mental Health. Previously at Hatch Motherhood, she was the Education Director and provided maternal health consultations.
Viraj received her BS from Michigan and MS from Rosalind Franklin.
Mom of 2 college students. In addition to tennis, yoga, and travel, Viraj loves to sing and comes from a very talented and musical family.
Perri Shaw Borish, MSS, LCSW, BCD
Chief Clinical Officer
Perri oversees the mental health services at EmmaWell.
She is the founder of Whole Heart Maternal Mental Health and a board-certified licensed clinical social worker with over 15 years of experience in maternal mental health. Perri is certified in perinatal mood and anxiety disorders as well as pregnancy loss and grief.
She received her BA from Boston University and MSS from Bryn Mawr College. Her group psychotherapy practice is based out of Philadelphia and she serves as a Northeast regional coordinator for Postpartum Support International.
Perri is also a loving wife and mom of 3 awesome kids.
Head of Product and Operations
Wanda oversees product and operations at EmmaWell.
Most recently, Wanda was Head of Strategy and Operations at QuanticMind, a venture-backed Marketing Tech startup. She cut her teeth as an M&A investment banker and was an early-stage investor in enterprise tech startups, as well as an advisor to Femtech and Healthtech startups in the Bay Area.
Born and raised in Singapore, Wanda received her BA from Bryn Mawr College.
Wanda is solid "Funtie" material and mentors high school students. She sits on the BUILD Bay Area Associate Board.
Head of Content and Community
Copley is responsible for developing EmmaWell's digital content and fostering a community of moms and moms-to-be.
From New York to Washington, DC, to Philadelphia, she spent a
decade in digital media at esteemed organizations and businesses. While putting her career on pause to birth and raise a gaggle of children, she was unknowingly doing market research for EmmaWell!
Copley has a BA from Georgetown and an MS in Publishing from NYU.
Mom of 3 little clones and a Goldendoodle. When she's not on an outdoor adventure with her family, she can be found swapping war stories with veteran mom friends.
Head of Strategic Growth
Catherine directs EmmaWell’s business growth, develops strategic relationships, and drives the identification and development of new partnerships and customer offerings.
Catherine has focused her career on helping organizations achieve transformative growth, both broadening their reach and impact. Starting out at Deloitte Consulting, Catherine pivoted after business school to pursue her passion for serving others as Director of Development at The Alliance for Eating Disorders Awareness.
Catherine received her BS from Penn State and MBA from Harvard.
Mom of 2 little ones and a fun-loving chocolate lab. Catherine is soaking up the crazy that is family life, and staying sane one jog at a time.
Radhi is a practicing OB-GYN physician who brings her passion for improving maternal health outcomes to EmmaWell.
With over 20 years of experience, Radhi is the lead physician in her practice which is part of Axia Women's Health. In 2016, she founded Hatch Motherhood, a maternal wellness center that provided fitness, support, and education during the perinatal period.
Radhi received her MD from LSU in Shreveport and trained at UT Southwestern in Dallas.
Mom of a college, high school student, and a Goldendoodle. Always up for a challenge, she completed a 200-hour yoga teacher training.
The founder and president of the National Birth Equity Collaborative, Joia brings her passion for health equity to EmmaWell.
Joia previously served as Executive Director of the Birthing Project, Director of Women’s and Children’s Services at Jefferson Community Healthcare Center, and Director of Clinical Services for the City of New Orleans' Health Department. Her most recent focus has been on maternal and child health at both the national and international levels.
After receiving her BS from Princeton and Xavier, she completed her medical degree at LSU and her residency in OB-GYN at Tulane.
Joia is married and is a busy mom of 3.
Having supported new moms and their babies throughout Philadelphia and the Main Line for over 25 years, Donna brings her passion and a wealth of expertise in lactation and maternal health to EmmaWell.
An IBCLC, Donna provides lactation consults in the maternity ward of a hospital in the Philadelphia suburbs, where she is famously known as “Boob Donna" and recently launched a virtual lactation support platform called BoobDonna.com to improve access to breastfeeding education and support.
Donna creates and teaches courses for the International Doula Institute and speaks at national conferences. She previously worked as a private practice lactation consultant, labor doula, and postpartum doula and chaired the Main Line Health Lactation Committee.
Donna’s free time is devoted to her family - 2 fabulous kids, one amazing son-in-law, and her supportive husband of over 30 years.
A pioneer in the field of maternal mental health. Karen established The Postpartum Stress Center in 1988 in Rosemont, PA. She brings her wealth of knowledge and experience in mental health to EmmaWell.
Karen received her BA from Indiana University and MSW from the University of Illinois in Chicago and has been a practicing clinical social worker ever since. In addition to her work at The Postpartum Stress Center, she developed and teaches a professional training course known as the Art of Holding for clinicians interested in specializing in the treatment of postpartum distress.
Today, Karen is internationally renowned for her work within the mental health community. She is the author of numerous books for both parents and professionals which have made a huge impact. Karen makes frequent appearances in national TV programs, radio shows, and health podcasts, and websites.
Samir is the former CEO of Genoa Telepsychiatry which improves access to psychiatry for underserved communities through a team of 500+ clinicians treating patients in all 50 states. Genoa was acquired by UnitedHealth Group (through its Optum business) in September 2018, as the nation's largest provider of telepsychiatry services.
Samir has been a co-founder of two Healthcare IT startups, 1DocWay, a telepsychiatry company, and ZipCare, a non-emergency medical transportation company. He also sits on the board of directors of CenterPointe Behavioral Health System and Ride Health.
Samir is a former McKinsey consultant with a BA from the University of Pennsylvania and MBA from The Wharton School.
Alinne is a clinical psychologist, Associate Professor in Clinical Psychology at Palo Alto University, and Associate Director at the Institute for International Internet Interventions for Health. Her work is focused on depression prevention, intervention adaptations, and the use of technology to deliver maternal mental health resources.
Alinne has dedicated most of her research to adapting and testing an online version of the Mothers and Babies Course, which is one of two interventions recognized by the USPSTF as effective in preventing perinatal depression.
Alinne is a Board Member of 2020 Mom and serves on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Latinx Psychology. She received her BS from UC Berkeley, PhD from the Univ of Colorado, and completed her postdoctoral fellowship at UC San Francisco.
Tim is a healthcare executive with over 30 years of health plan experience, including clinical, behavioral health and healthcare delivery system innovation on behalf of Fortune 500 multi-national and US national companies globally and domestically.
Tim is a national subject matter expert on Behavioral Health Digital/Technology Innovation, Clinical and Commercialization Strategy. He has held executive level postions with Aetna, Cigna, Blue Cross/Blue Shield Rhode Island most recently was Senior Vice President with Optum Behavioral Health.
He received his BA from Stetson University in Deland, FL, MSW from the University of Connecticut, and MBA from the University of Hartford.
Ashley is a registered nurse and CPR Instructor with experience in neonatal intensive care. She has an unyielding passion to care for newborn children and help their families through challenging times. Ashley is highly motivated by the dynamic and collaborative environment that EmmaWell offers.
Ashley graduated from Penn State in 2008 with a degree in Biobehavioral Health and then received her BSN from Drexel in 2010.
Ashley grew up in Downingtown and currently resides in Havertown, PA with her husband and their 3 children. Her personal interests include spending time at the beach, traveling, sewing, and fashion.
Ann Marie is an experienced pediatric sleep consultant and founder of AM Smiles Sleep Training.
She has helped hundreds of tired parents improve their little ones' sleep through customized planning.
Ann Marie received her BSEd in Elementary Education and MSEd in Special Education from West Chester University. She has over seven years of experience as a sleep training consultant.
Ann Marie currently lives in Haverford, PA with her husband and 3 boys.
Michele is a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) with Penn Ob/Gyn and Midwifery Care and delivers at Pennsylvania Hospital.
She received her BSN at Drexel University in 2008 and then completed her MSN at Philadelphia University. She received her Nurse Midwifery certification in 2013.
Michele is very passionate about providing the best care for her patients and loves to provide the much-needed education and support they need.
She is also a devoted wife and mother to her 6-year-old son.
Lang Ngov is a physical therapist (PT) with a special interest in the prevention of diastasis recti for which she received a research grant.
After graduating from UConn, she moved to CA to start her career as a PT. While there she completed a residency in the world-renowned Vallejo PNF (Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation) program. Later she moved back to the Philadelphia area to be closer to family.
Lang is one of 6 physical therapists in PA who is a Certified Functional Manual Therapist (CFMT). She is a board-certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist as well as a certified Pilates instructor.
Lang is the owner of Optimal Physical Therapy and Wellness as well as a mom of two.
Randi has spent over 20 years as a child advocate, yoga teacher, and doula and is the founder of Yoga Mamas, through which she brings her passion for prenatal and postpartum yoga.
Randi’s work on the pain management team as a therapist at Children’s Hospital has given her a deep understanding of the hospital environment and expertise in dealing with such discomfort. Her Master's from NYU in Drama Therapy has built her foundation in creatively addressing mental health and relationship needs.
As a teacher, she hopes to break down barriers to accessing yoga instruction and quality prenatal and postpartum care. Randi speaks to the discrepancies our system of class and race has had on birth and advocates for all families. 10% of her teaching profits go to the Black Mamas Matter Alliance and the Maternity Care Coalition.
